Halloween Witch Party - How to Create a Witch's House with Free Halloween printables

Almost time for another halloween season.  I really love halloween as I can go totally over the top and totally get away with it.

This year we decided on a Hansel and Gretel Witch party and a large amount of the house was used to create a Witch atmosphere.  We created a Witch's Kitchen and included lots of lotions, potions and a large stove.  This area kept all the children engaged for hours as they served each other severed fingers, brains and other ghastly morsels.

We created a set of printable tents to label our lotions, potions and body parts.  We are offering this range as a free printable to help you create this look.

And yes, I was a very evil green Witch with my youngest children being Hansel and Gretel.

Enjoy  Julie

Hansel and Gretel Witch Party

Our kitchen was created by attaching a large amount of crushed velvet to curtains with pegs to form a black background, we then added bookshelves and repurposed an old corner TV unit as an oven.

We collected a lot of cut glass and crystal bottles to use for potions.  These were filled with coloured water and herbs.

I found a range of skull bottles in a local discount store and used cauliflower for brains,

The stove was created using an old corner TV unit, cardboard boxes, lots of black paint and halloween ornaments.

Halloween Witch Oven Decorating Ideas

Wine bottle crates were used to make small shelves around the stove.  We included spiders, zombie body parts and very small bottles with dyed water and small pickled onions with a clove stud.

Halloween how to decorate a Witch Kitchen

A large cauldron was filled with bones and an over sized wooden spoon.  I used a lot of battery tea lights under the red cellophane which glowed nicely at night.

We used a lot of different colours in our potion bottles.

We did include a couple of scary Witch's scattered through the house.

Halloween Witch Party Hansel and Gretel Theme

Incorporate vingage elements to the theme, I found a vintage silver and glass casserole dish which was filled with eyeballs,

We did include other items in our Witch's kitchen such as my talking Crystal Ball Witch, a very odd bunny growing horns and some Tru Blood.

Halloween Punch is just so good.  This year we had a Hansel and Gretel Witch Halloween party and had three punch's representing Witches.  We called this punch the Melting Witch Punch.

This is a non alcoholic punch which was a favourite with the children..

For this party we created a set of free  halloween punch tents so you can create the look at home.

Halloween Adult Witch Party Hansel and Gretel

Finally the first day of October, and the start of Halloween season.

Who says Halloween is just for children, luckily for me I have a number of adult friends who share my enthusiasm for dressing up and partying at Halloween.  This year we had a Witch Party with a  Hansel and Gretel theme, and while I did allow the dessert table to be child friendly the rest of the house was very dark and defiantly post the Hansel and Gretel Candy House.

The centre piece for this party was a Witch House in the woods and we will  post a tutorial on how to create this over the next couple of days.

This was a dark theme but perfect for an adult halloween party, we have created free printables for you to use and enjoy.

Enjoy Julie.

Halloween Hansel and Gretel Witch Party

The House and Forest were the centre piece for this party, we then strategically surrounded the house with Champagne glasses, Glass Punch Bowls and Witch food.

Halloween Hansel and Gretel Witch party

Our Champagne glasses were all individually named with famous or should I say infamous Witches and Wizards these circles are included in our free download.

Halloween Witch and Wizard drink tags

We used a lot of candles to create height for the forest, we also used lollipops to frame the pathway to the Witch's house.

Halloween Witch Party centrepiece

We created three punches for this party, the punch bowls were arranged together with bones, links to the recipes will be posted over the next few days with our free printable punch tents.

Halloween Punch Bowls with bones

My Halloween parties normally have vodka jelly shots and this night was no exception

Halloween Vodka Jelly Shots

The house looked great in the dark, it was full of battery tea lights which emitted an eerie glow through the windows.

Halloween Hansel and Gretel Candy House

We served Witch fingers at the party, these are simple packaged Italian Breadsticks with an almond sliver for a finger nail and green food gel to hold the almond.  I tend to use Silver ware and Crystal for food service at Halloween rather than disposable products.

Halloween Witch Fingers

We served a number of simple dips presented in crystal bowls on a silver tray scattered with bones and mice.  The bones were from halloween necklaces.

Halloween Witch Party Food Ideas

We included some wasabi peas, Olive mix and Japanese Oisji peanut crackers.

A selection of cheeses were included with cheese circles from out free printable range.

Volcano Cookies - Natural Disaster Project

This term one of my children is learning about natural disasters at school with and we had an  assignment of "cooking" a natural disaster.  I was really impressed at some of the cakes which arrived at school that day.

For this assignment we opted for decorated cookies depicting natural disasters starting at the Volcano.

To create these cookies I used a Christmas Bell Cookie cutter for the base shape.  We than made two shades of brown icing and used red and orange glitter decorating gel for the eruption  To add a final touch we added small trees from our Christmas decorating collection.

Enjoy

Hawaiian Luau Party with Desert Table and Games

This year was my daughters 9th Birthday so we decided it was time for a tropical theme and settled on a Hawaiian Luau Party.  Hawaiian Luau parties are a lot of fun, you can go slightly crazy with the theme because most items are very easy to source and not very expensive.

The key elements of this party include a Dessert table, Palm Tree favour bags, Games including a scavenger Hunt, lots of decorating ideas and a custom range of printable products.

Enjoy Julie

Hawaiian Luau Dessert Table

Our Desert table was the focus of the party, a dessert table must be both appealing to the eye and totally delicious.

Iced Cookies are a great way to brighten this table, for this party I used Dolphins, Flamingos and Palm trees.  I do all the decorating myself so I keep the icing simple but they still brighten up the table and we never have any left over.

I just love these Pina Colada Cake Pops, they were easy to make and look great dressed with a hibiscus skirt and topped with a cocktail umbrella.  The cake pops sat in a stryfoam circle mould which I covered in a paper Tiki wrap and used shells and flowers to disguise the foam base.

We used fruit shaped candy and topped the candy jar with a small grass skirt.  Cup cakes are a must for a dessert table we used a simple butter icing and 2 inch circles from our printable range.

Fresh Fruit Skewers were placed in a watermelon basket carved to look like Waves, this looks very effective and the fruit is a great counter balance to the sugar.

We used simple cup cakes with a butter icing.  The cup cakes were topped with printable circles from our Hawaiian Luau printable range.

You can find lots of good Pina Colada tutorials on line, these were very effective on the dessert table.

Tropical Beach Birthday Cake

This was a fun cake to make, the elements are all simple.  I used plastic trees from my local cake decorating shop which is also where I found the edible flowers.  The ocean is edible jel also from my local cake decorating shop, the towels were made from strips of coloured icing and I used liquorice for shark fins.

The luau Party sing is paper and a part of our printable range..

Luau Party Decorating Ideas

The Dessert Table was created using a number of easy to find elements.  We used cardboard Tiki Poles to frame our table and used a wonderful window image as a central focus.  We then added a long table skirt to the dessert table and a shorter table skirt was used to frame the window.  Fresh Singapore orchids were used on the table as was our printable range of products.

Hawaiian Luau Dessert Table Ideas

We used helium balloons in bright colours and hung tiki lights to brighten the ceiling.  This is a great way to add a lot of colour in a simple way.

We used plastic images to add a lot of colour and fun - the children loved the bathroom image.

We decorated the tables with some colourful Tiki's and tropical birds.

Palm Tree Favour Bags

Why use store bought plastic bags when you can create a personalised favour bag in the party theme.  These were simple to make, but did take quite a few hours to complete the set.  We added party Thank You Cards from our printable range.

A tutorial will shortly be posted on our blog.

Hawaiian Luau Party Games

We played lots of Theme Based Games at this party including:

  • Limbo
  • Scavenger Hunt
  • Hawaiian Dancing

The object of Limbo is to pass under the bar leaning backwards without knocking the bar from the poles. If you knock the bar from its position you are out.  Continue to lower the bar until you have a winner.

A scavenger hunt is always a hit at my parties, I've created a set of printable cards and a printable wallet. The Cards are hidden throughout the house and garden and the children race to find all the pieces.  Don't make this too easy as the children love a challenge.

Tequila Lick, Sip, Suck

Mexican Dinner Parties have to be one of my favourites.  They are very bright and vibrant and the cooking is not overwhelming.  One of the many key elements of a Mexican dinner Party has to be tequila, and at my parties tequila is served in many ways.  They form the basis of the classic Lime Margarita and for the first time in quite a while I also served tequila straight via the other classic lic, sip, suck.

For those of you not familiar with this drink, all you need is a good Tequila, salt rimmed shot glass's and some lime wedges.  You lick the salt,  down the tequila and suck the lime.

Our full dinner party will soon be posted, but I could not resist sharing some Tequila shots.

Enjoy.

All that Glitter - Christmas Bauble

To compliment my Gold and White Christmas Table Setting I've found an exquisite gold ribbon bauble.  These baubles are made by Emily, from All that Glitter .  The baubles come in a variety of colours and they can be personalised with a beaded name and year charm. They look great on the tree and would make a great Christmas gift option.

I know I'll be ordering more next year - enjoy.

All that Glitter - Christmas Bauble

Christmas Table traditional Gold and White Design

This year I've created a traditional Gold and White Christmas Table.  This colour combination delivers  a very sophisicated look but also lets you inject fun elements for the children.  To create this look start with a good quality white table cloth and then add design elements in various hues of gold and different heights and sizes.

This year we created free printable blank name place tents and napkin wraps, they are available for download here.

Enjoy

Christmas Table Gold and White design

The place settings have been created using gold chargers and gold cutlery, I've added gold bon bon's in a couple of patterns and a wonderful vintage gold christmas ornaments.

Christmas place setting, gold and white design

The larger elements on the Christmas table have been semetrically set to provide a more traditional look to the table.  Candle sticks, deers and mini gold Christmas trees grace each end with a wonderful tall gold christmas tree as a centre piece.

Christmas Table, traditional gold and white design

Once the larger elements are in place, use tinsel and a good combination of smaller gold christmas ornaments to add texture and interest to the table.  I've included gold glitter  battery tea lights running through the centre of the table, these look wonderful as evening approaches.

Christmas Table, Gold and White design

To complement our Gold and White Christmas Table we've created printable blank name tents and napkin rings as a free download.

I really like the use of deers at Christmas time and you will usually find one of two on my Christmas table.
